Le Recensement Général de la Population et de l'Habitat (RGPH) est une opération nationale exhaustive réalisée sur tout le territoire national, elle concerne toute la population et tous les ménages qui y résident.
La méthode de recensement adoptée est celle de l'interview directe. Toutefois, certaines catégories de la population sont recensées selon des méthodes spécifiques, notamment:
La population comptée à part la population de passage dans les hôtels et assimilés Les personnes sans abri La population nomade Objectifs du recensement Déterminer la population légale de toutes les unités administratives connaître les différentes structures socio-économiques de la population et déterminer les caractéristiques du parc logement à tous les niveaux géographiques ; Constituer la documentation de base nécessaire à l’élaboration de l’échantillon-maître.
